EDUCATION PROGRAMS
King Conservation Leadership Academy: The King Conservation Leadership Academy combines informal, experiential science education with community-based civic engagement, facilitating racially, culturally, and socio-economically diverse voices in conservation and empowering children and families to define conservation in ways meaningful and relevant to them.
We foster the development of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) skills and conservation awareness by engaging young children in nature as early as possible and with children and families throughout their hands-on, educational journey.
King Academy programs are targeted to residents of six local underserved communities: the
Chicago neighborhoods of Belmont Cragin (81% Latinx), Fuller Park (90% African American),
Englewood (95% African American), and Pilsen (70% Latinx), and the Cook County suburbs of Cicero (90% Latinx) and Melrose Park (75% Latinx).
